About Us

Our Story

Encanto Community was born from my journey. I’ve spent over 20 years working in community development in Colombia, and later many years in Australia as a support worker for seniors and people with disabilities.

During this time, I noticed a recurring challenge. Support workers are expected to do a bit of everything—cooking, cleaning, errands, and community activities. It’s wonderful work, but many families told me they wanted more. They wanted specialists—professionals who could bring real skill and passion to each area of life.

While studying my postgraduate degree in Community Development at Murdoch University, I was inspired by E. F. Schumacher, author of Small Is Beautiful, who wrote about building human-centred and sustainable communities. His ideas made me reflect on my own journey—my background in social responsibility in Colombia, the challenges of learning English at 34 as an international student, and the struggles I’ve seen close to me, especially among people living with disabilities and seniors facing loneliness.

In that moment, everything made sense, and Encanto Community Services was born—with the support and experience of my husband Bryn, whose love, patience, and joy have been by my side every step of the way, and my nephew Sebastian, whose dedication, professionalism, and ethics have been invaluable.

That’s when the idea for Encanto Community came to life: to build a team where every service is delivered by people who truly love what they do.

• Cleaning: Delivered by professional cleaners who handle both regular and demanding jobs with care and attention.

• At-Home Chef Service: Provided by qualified chefs who bring cultural flavours, traditions, and expertise—far beyond what a support worker might normally offer in the kitchen.

• Community Support: Led by workers who genuinely enjoy being outdoors, walking, socialising, visiting places, and helping people connect with nature. When our support workers enjoy the activities, our clients feel that joy too.

For me, everything comes back to three simple but powerful needs: a clean and safe home, healthy and nourishing food, and opportunities to socialise and connect with nature.

Why Encanto?

In Spanish, “encanto” means “a pleasure” or “with joy”—like saying “it’s lovely to meet you” or “I’m happy to do this.” For me, Encanto is about bringing warmth, care, and a little bit of magic into everyday life.
